Apply to funding opportunities

JustFund is designed to simplify the grant application process and save you time through the JustFund Common Application™. 

How it works

To apply for funding on JustFund, you must first complete and publish your JustFund Common Application™ profile. This profile includes key information about your organization, including mission statement, team description, financials, and more. 

Once published, your JustFund Common Application™ profile:

  • Becomes discoverable to funders on JustFund Search, increasing the visibility of your work.
  • Unlocks access to apply to funding opportunities on JustFund.
  • Serves as the foundation for every application.

When applying to a funding opportunity:

  • Funders may ask you to answer up to three additional questions and upload up to three attachments.
  • Only the funder you apply to can view your complete application, which includes a time stamped version of your profile content, and your responses to any of the specific questions or attachments. 

Why it matters

  • Save time: Apply to multiple opportunities using a single, reusable profile. 
  • Access funding opportunities: Discover and apply to opportunities that align with your work, without starting from scratch every time.
  • Efficiently tailor applications: JustFund’s application process allows you to tailor your applications as you wish without duplicating core content. 
  • Apply securely: Only the funder you apply to can view your full application.

Steps to apply

  • Explore funding opportunities
    • Click Funding Opportunities in your navigation bar.
    • Click into an opportunity to review its background, eligibility criteria, and timeline.
  • Start your application
    • If you meet all eligibility requirements, click Apply at the bottom of the page. 
    • You will be prompted to review and confirm your profile information, and complete funder-specific application fields. Your responses to these fields are private to you and the funder you are applying to.
  • Submit your application
    • Once you have completed your application, click Submit. 

FAQs

  • Who can see my application? Only you and the funder you apply to can view your complete application. However, your Common Application™ profile is discoverable to funders via JustFund Search. 
  • Can I edit an application after applying? No, you cannot edit application content after you apply. However, you can add additional attachments up until the deadline date of the funding opportunity by clicking Manage application in the Actions. 
  • If I update my profile, will existing application content be overwritten? Applications preserve a record of key profile information at the date/time of submission, including annual budget, mission statement, organization description, and team description. Other profile fields (filters, financial information, contact information, etc.) update in real time and reflect any profile updates, even on submitted applications.  
  • Can I add a video to my application? Yes, to attach a video or audio recording to your application, we recommend hosting your content on a third party site such as Vimeo or YouTube, and including the link in the attachments section of your application.  
  • Can I delete or withdraw an application after I have applied? No, applications cannot be deleted or withdrawn after you have applied. If you have questions, please reach out to the JustFund team at info@justfund.us.
  • Can I apply to multiple funding opportunities? Yes, you can apply to as many eligible funding opportunities as you would like on JustFund.
